Sedation Dentistry in Chicago

We offer oral conscious sedation in the form of prescription medication such as Xanax to help you feel relaxed during your dental care! Conscious sedation creates a feeling of deep relaxation or euphoria so that you do not feel any discomfort. This method is different from general anesthesia because it doesn’t render you completely unconscious. You will still be awake and responsive, allowing you to control your bodily functions.

One of the benefits of conscious sedation is that it takes effect in about an hour and wears off the same way. It will also alleviate your anxiety and fears of the dentist, reduce your gag reflex, and help you forget what happened.

There are no serious long-term side effects. For your safety, we recommend having a friend or family member drive you to your visit and take you home after it.

Can anyone use dental sedation?

Most patients are candidates for conscious sedation, but we will discuss your medical history before your visit to ensure your safety.

Does dental insurance cover sedation?

Most dental benefits will not cover the use of conscious sedation and Xanax. However, we will work with you to determine your dental benefits, as each insurance plan differs.
